ROMY ALFORD

"We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams"

- Willy Wonka -

Throughout my career as a Head of Media & Film Studies, I have been consistently identified as an outstanding practitioner, both in performance management and by Ofsted in 2013. My ambition has always been to extensively use my degree, filmmaking industry knowledge and experience to teach and help students aspire to positions in industry.

At age 18 I produced my first independent documentary ('Beware the Moon') later selling it to Universal Studios, this experience demonstrated to me the need for a revolution in the media indsutry and I was passionate about educating the next generation of film and media makers. I have continued making a variety of media products during my teaching career, for other colleagues in school and for my own department initiatives. I very much enjoy working to different briefs and have successfully managed producing these projects as well as my own schedule as a teacher and head of department.

Alongside my teaching, I have enjoyed working in the industry, focusing on using my creativity to work on different briefs for media clients. I have produced a range of media across different  platforms, am well versed in a multitude of technical skills and am passionate about producing high quality, creative and engaging media products.
